This means both table massage sessions and private mat yoga sessions incorporate breath and sensory mindfulness, yoga positioning, and manual therapy. I aspire to offer bodywork sessions the way I like to receive: unconditional positive regard, full attention to client's needs, pleasurable even when intense, maximum tension relief, deep relaxation. Outcomes may include: freedom of movement, freedom from pain, postural alignment, body-mind awareness, and overall sense of well being. For more massage benefits, see Benefits of Massage.

- Be prepared to fill out a brief intake form on your first visit
- Arrive a few minutes early so that the massage can start on time
- Eat lightly if at all just prior to massage
- Use the bathroom so you’ll be relaxed throughout
- Turn off your cell phone
- Tell me about any chronic health concerns or changes in health
- Tell me about any sensitive areas (e.g., a bruise) to be careful of and any areas that I should focus on
- Tell me if you want me to be careful about not getting oil in your hair
- Be assured that you will always be fully draped during the massage
- Remove jewelry and watch
- Dress down entirely, or leave your underwear on if you prefer
- Start out face down (unless I tell you face up), between the sheets
- Breathe long, slow, deep, even. Relax completely, let the table bear your weight
- Put any self-conscious thoughts about your body to rest. This is a place of nurturing self-acceptance and non-judgment.
- Tell me if anything I do is painful or if you if there is something you really like. Intensity is alright, pain is not. Keep breathing.
- Tell me if you want deeper or lighter pressure.
- When I move your arms and legs, let me do all the work, just let them be heavy
- Tissue is available if you need to blow your nose
- Let me know if you are ever too hot or too cold
- Different music, lower volume, or no music is ok – as you wish
- Trust your body to do what it needs to relax: sigh, yawn, moan, groan, intestinal gurgles/gas, falling asleep, snoring, moving or changing position
- This is a safe space for emotional release, such as tears.
- Your questions and feedback are welcome. I want to learn and grown as a massage therapist and I won’t be offended!
- Take your time getting off the table and getting dressed.
- Remember your jewelry and watch
- Drink lots of water to stay hydrated and help flush toxins out
- Go for a walk, stretch, take a bath, breathe, smile
- Tell your friends and family why you are smiling (I appreciate you and your referrals)
- Keep getting massage! I recommend twice or at least once per month for maintenance, or more frequently as your needs and wants indicate.
